Built in 1802, and commissioned by Thomas Jefferson, the Faulkner Island Lighthouse is Connecticut’s second oldest lighthouse tower, and is the only active light station on an island in the state. Faulkner Island is about three and one half miles offshore from Guilford, CT.
The Faulkner’s Light Brigade continues to work on the historic preservation of the lighthouse, erosion control of the island to protect the lighthouse and preservation of the wildlife habitat. Common Terns and Roseate Terns arrive every summer to breed.
Many people have expressed an interest in both the island and the lighthouse. In order to continue with the restoration efforts, support is needed from our many friends.
